For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love. Carl Sagan
This mandala comes from an astonishing NASA image of earth at night taken from the International Space Station. Space Flight Now, the site where I found the image, explains:
From 220 miles above Earth, this nighttime photo features the bright lights of Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt on the Mediterranean coast. The Nile River and its delta stand out clearly as well. On the horizon, the airglow of the atmosphere is seen across the Mediterranean.
What an image to take in fully; the tiny ribbon of atmosphere at the edge of the picture, the lights along the Nile in a state-of-the art-look at an ancient land and the idea that someone was 220 miles above the earth with a camera taking it. Wonderful – in every sense of the word.
Have a good week, everyone.
